Terang AI is the education company I founded. The premise is narrow on purpose: use AI where it demonstrably widens access to quality education in Indonesia, and ignore it everywhere else.

The problem

Good exam preparation in Indonesia is expensive, concentrated in big cities, and effectively rationed by who can afford a tutor. The students who most need a way in, the ones outside Java and outside the private-school pipeline, are the ones least likely to get one. That is not a technology gap. It is an access gap that technology happens to be able to close.

What we built

Two systems sit at the core. A personalised learning and exam-simulation platform that adapts practice to the individual student rather than serving everyone the same question bank. And an interview simulator that lets scholarship applicants rehearse a high-stakes conversation as many times as they need, at no cost, at whatever hour they are actually free.

Both are registered computer programs, recorded with Indonesia's Directorate General of Intellectual Property.

Where it stands

Terang AI has grown to roughly 10,000 users across Terang AI and Terang Events, with three B2B clients, and now runs enterprise work alongside the free public programmes: accredited professional training, institutional partnerships, and platform contracts.

The commercial side exists to fund the access side. That was the design from the start.
